The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! was one of the early test aircraft used to study jet flight and high subsonic speeds. It has amazing amounts of front and rear overhang when on its landing gear.

The late-'40s through '50s is my absolute favorite era of aviation. Cold War budgets and just so much "what would happen if we...?" Slide rules ruled the day, and the ideas were seemingly endless and unfettered. So many brilliant failures, yet so many brilliant successes. And let's not forget the men who climbed into these experiments and flew them. Or died trying.
